Counts of individual species are recorded. These data are collected while walking a defined transect at all of ECN's terrestrial sites using a standard protocol. They represent continuous weekly records from 1993 to 2015. ECN is the UK's long-term environmental monitoring programme. It is a multi-agency programme sponsored by a consortium of fourteen government departments and agencies. These organisations contribute to the programme through funding either site monitoring and/or network co-ordination activities. When in the field, all teams were trained in data collection methods to ensure consistent robust measurements, and data were continually checked for errors as it was collected. Data on outbreaks in 2011, 2012 and up to May 2013 were provided by SASA and locations of larch infections up to April 2013 were provided by the Forestry Commission. A small proportion of core native woodland fragments were missing data for climate and Vaccinium myrtillus habitat suitability.
