Harwood Forest is managed by the Forestry Commission. Close to 90% of the forested area is Sitka spruce although current restocking proposals are to increase species diversity including native broadleaf planting. The COSMOS-UK site is co-located with a greenhouse gas flux monitoring tower operated by Forest Research.
