Capabilities
The Lancaster Aquarium comprises freshwater aquaria with shelving, pumps and raw water for the husbandry of freshwater organisms (fish and invertebrates). A raw water supply (filtered water from a local reservoir) is accessible in this room, so the aquaria can be operated in a flow-through configuration for fish. To undertake fish husbandry, researchers must obtain a Home Office license and address issues of animal welfare
Lifecycle
The Lancaster Aquarium facility was established in 2003 in laboratory space leased from Lancaster University (due for review in 2022).
