Historic and future metal deposition for GB

The dataset is an annual time series of estimated metal deposition/input to the UK terrestrial surface, from 1750 to 2100, for cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni) and zinc (Zn). Sources will include direct inputs to the soils such as agricultural activity (e.g. grazing animals and fertiliser) and also the atmospheric transport and deposition of emitted metals from various combustion sources over the time period.

From 1750 to present, data will be estimated from various online sources such as journals, government data and more and spatially modelled at 1km, using various proxy datasets such as population and census records, at decadal time periods. For the future period, there are stakeholder and expert sessions to estimate trends of key contributing sectors (e.g. industrial output, agricultural output) over 5 shared socio-economic pathways to allow for estimates at three points in time up to 2100, between which linear trends are assumed.
