Subsequent samples were taken by staff of the Joint Services Health Unit (JSHU) using a YSI DSS pro.\n\nField samples were filtered immediately through a 0.45 μm Whatman WCN membrane filter. These were analysed in laboratories at UKCEH Wallingford for phosphorus and nitrogen species, dissolved reactive silicon, suspended solids, chlorophyll, fluoride, chloride, and sulphate. Some values are missing due to equipment failure, the different types of probe used to take field samples or because a sample could not be taken due to access.\n\nThe samples were taken by experienced field surveyors and the data was checked for anomalous values. All analysis (with the exception of suspended solids) was carried out alongside reference Aquacheck QC standards (LGC Standards, Teddington, UK).\n\nThe samples were taken as part of the Darwin Initiative Plus project, which seeks to monitor and understand drivers of change in the Akrotiri
