The data was collected using automatic level loggers recording at 15-minute intervals between April 2017 and February 2019. The data were collected as part of the NERC sponsored project Coupled Human and Natural Systems Environment (CHANSE), grant number NE/N01670X/1" ;

The data were downloaded by trained members of staff from Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bihar and Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE). These measurements were taken to improve understanding on how groundwater levels vary throughout the year in terms of rainfall and groundwater abstraction.
