This is an Analysis Ready Cloud Optimised version of the daily 1km gridded rainfall dataset from the UK Met Office "HadUK-Grid Gridded Climate Observations on a 1km grid over the UK" dataset.
The original dataset is openly available in netCDF format from the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA) Archive, under the licence conditions outlined in 'Licensing and constraints'. This version has been converted to Zarr format and made openly available from NERC's JASMIN object store for the purpose of enabling simple access to subsets of the data. A series of notebooks are available to demonstrate how to access the data with python and R. A link to the definitive source for this data, including for information on access, ownership and terms of use, is provided in the 'Supplemental information' below. Note that the Met Office update the CEDA dataset on a regular basis, so more up to date versions are likely to be available.

Provenance & quality
Version 1.3.1 of the HadUK-Grid dataset was accessed from CEDA, converted to Zarr format in two optimisations: spatial and temporal, and hosted on the NERC JASMIN object storage for open, web-based access. No specific quality assurance was undertaken to ensure integrity with the original dataset. Data originally produced by the UK Met Office and published in the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA) archive. For a definitive version of the dataset, access the original data from CEDA from the link provided in the 'Supplemental information' below.
