Environmental variables are also presented: altitude, slope, aspect, rock out cropping, index of grazing intensity (78 sites) and olive tree densities by size class (69 sites).  Soil pH was collected for 50 sites.  Plant surveys were done June to August 1983 by Dr. D.A. Kirk as part of his Master’s thesis degree in Conservation at University College London (1983). At each site, a thrown quadrat was used to randomly locate the central stake. A nested quadrat design was used. Percent cover was recorded using the Braun Blanquet scale. Plants not identified in the field were collected and compared to specimens at the herbarium in Tunis or the British Museum herbarium. At each quadrat location grazing intensity was ranked on the principal woody plant species. At each quadrat a number of environmental variables were collected: altitude, slope, aspect, rock out cropping, index of grazing intensity (78 sites) and olive tree densities by size class (69 sites).  Soil pH was collected for 50 sites.\nData was recorded on field sheets and then transposed to  Excel spreadsheets.
