Project HYDRA is part of the UK Arctic Research Programme. Project HYDRA studies sites in Arctic Canada to investigate the biological, chemical and physical controls on the release of greenhouse gases from permafrost into melt water and to the atmosphere and how these emissions will influence global warming. Climate data was used to estimate actual vapour pressure and surface resistance using FAO methods. Potential evapotranspiration (PET) was estimated using the data and the Penman-Monteith method. Albedo was estimated using hobo shortwave sensor. Thaw depth was estimated using observations and the square root of degree day temperature.
