The saturated hydraulic conductivity was based on the steady state infiltration rate. For the measurements at the soil surface we used a double ring infiltrometer; for the measurements at 10 to 20 cm and 20 to 30 cm below the surface we used a constant head permeameter. At each measurement location, we collected a 100 cm3 soil core, which was analysed in the laboratory for porosity, moisture content at field capacity and bulk density.
