They are tolerant of drought and fast growing, but also vulnerable to pests (including termites and birds) and pathogens. Repeated surveys were conducted approximately fortnightly from May 2021 to September 2022 for traits relating to phenology (leaves, flowers, and pods) and tree damage. A one-off whole-tree survey was conducted  in December 2020 and included growth traits (basal diameter, height, number of stems, canopy width), canopy damage, leaf traits (leaf weight and area) and pod traits (number of green/mature pods).
