Training data were compiled from a variety of data sources, then subsequently filtered to improve the quality of the training data set. An input data stack comprising monthly 3 m resolution PlanetScope basemap imagery acquired over a 12-month period from January to December 2023, derived Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data, seasonal percentile NDVI data, and topographical context datasets was then classified using a Random Forest classifier built using the training data. \n\nA series of post-classification enhancements were applied to improve the classification quality, and enhance the range of land cover classes mapped through integration with quality-assured independent datasets. The accuracy of the land cover classification is assessed at the national-level using over 35,000 validation locations, enabling production of a correspondence matrix to determine overall and class accuracies.
