Data include the toxicity for sequin particles, sequin leachates, sequin additives and a reference toxicant, changes in mass after a leaching process (degradation) and metal concentrations in both the sequins and their leachates. Toxicity was assessed using OECD 48 h Daphnia magna immobilisation assays with four replicates each of five individuals for five experimental concentrations and a control. Leaching was carried out using an incubator (INFORS HT Multitron incubator shaker) and metal concentrations were assessed using Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS: PerkinElmer NexION 5000, Shelton, Connecticut, USA).
