Crickets were in a meadow in N. Spain from May to June 2017.\nIndividual crickets were retained in a controlled area using a line attached to a copper ring glued to their thorax. Crickets were maintained in captivity and randomly selected every day to run the temperature increase trials. Trials were carried out in an area with mown grass. Before entering the trial, each individual was cooled to a temperature of 13ºC. During the cooling process, ambient temperature, humidity and reflected apparent temperature were measured using a thermal imagining camera (FLIR T4). Once the cricket reached the base temperature, it was released in the arena and its temperature measured at 1 minute intervals with the same camera, for a minimum of 20 minutes.\nThese data were acquired to assess behavioural thermoregulation in crickets in the wild and were collected by researchers at the University of Exeter.","distributionFormats":[{"name":"Comma-separated values (CSV)","type":"text/csv","version":"unknown"}],"distributorContacts":[{"organisationName":"NERC EDS Environmental Information Data Centre","organisationIdentifier":"https://ror.org/04xw4m193","role":"distributor","email":"info@eidc.ac.uk"}],"funding":[{"funderName":"Natural Environment Research Council","funderIdentifier":"https://ror.org/02b5d8509","awardNumber":"NE/V000772/1","orcid":false,"ror":true}],"hasOnlineServiceAgreement":true,"id":"a65dbd74-c5b4-4c33-a658-9941cac0a049","incomingCitationCount":0,"infoLinks":[{"url":"https://data-package.ceh.ac.uk/sd/a65dbd74-c5b4-4c33-a658-9941cac0a049.zip","name":"Supporting information","description":"Supporting information available to assist in re-use of this dataset","function":"information","type":"OTHER"}],"keywordsOther":[{"value":"Thermoregulation"},{"value":"Body temperature"},{"value":"Body mass"},{"value":"solar radiation","uri":"http://www.eionet.europa.eu/gemet/concept/7912"}],"keywordsTheme":[{"value":"Animal behaviour","uri":"http://onto.nerc.ac.uk/CEHMD/topic/20"},{"value":"Phenology","uri":"http://onto.nerc.ac.uk/CEHMD/topic/3"},{"value":"Climate and climate change","uri":"http://onto.nerc.ac.uk/CEHMD/topic/4"}],"licences":[{"value":"This resource is available under the terms of the Open Government Licence","code":"license","uri":"https://eidc.ac.uk/licences/ogl/plain"}],"lineage":"Crickets in the body temperature dataset were collected in the wild in 2017 and then used to measure their body temperature changes with time under sun exposure.
