The dataset includes the names of species observed and number of individuals detected per observation event alongside the date, time and location of detection. \n\n30 camera traps were placed at 10 sites along the River Kelvin in Glasgow with cameras at 0, 250 and 500 m from the river at each site at 0.5-1 m above ground level on trees or posts. Data was collected from 21 March - 22 September 2023, with images and videos captured when animals triggered the cameras. Images were analysed by an AI processor and further investigated by an image analyst. Location-specific data was acquired via QGIS and land cover maps.\n\nThe resource comprises three CSV files: `Mammal_CamTrap_Data.csv`, `Avian_CamTrap_Data.csv` and `Study_Site_Data.csv`. The mammal and avian files contain post-processed observations which identify the species and number of individuals. The study-site file provides camera locations and environmental variables, including elevation, land cover and distances from key habitat features.\n\nThe dataset provides information on the occurrence and abundance of birds and mammals detected by camera traps across an urban riparian corridor in Glasgow. It is hoped to be of use for analysing patterns of urban biodiversity and evidencing the value of riparian corridors for providing connectivity within cities.\n\nData was collected by Glasgow as a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation (GALLANT) Work Package Two and funded by the Natural Environmental Research Council as part of the Changing the Environment Programme (Grant NE/W005042/1), with the aim of recording urban biodiversity.","distributionFormats":[{"name":"Comma-separated values (CSV)","type":"text/csv","version":"unknown"}],"distributorContacts":[{"organisationName":"NERC EDS Environmental Information Data Centre","organisationIdentifier":"https://ror.org/04xw4m193","role":"distributor","email":"info@eidc.ac.uk"}],"funding":[{"funderName":"Natural Environment Research Council","funderIdentifier":"https://ror.org/02b5d8509","awardTitle":"Changing the Environment Programme","awardNumber":"NE/W005042/1","orcid":false,"ror":true}],"hasOnlineServiceAgreement":true,"id":"b24e0f84-1a49-49da-8962-676d233a7280","incomingCitationCount":0,"inspireThemes":[{"theme":"Environmental Monitoring Facilities","uri":"http://inspire.ec.europa.eu/theme/ef"}],"keywordsOther":[{"value":"Mammal"},{"value":"Glasgow"},{"value":"Avian"},{"value":"Urban corridors"},{"value":"Camera trap"},{"value":"Riparian corridors"}],"keywordsTheme":[{"value":"Animal behaviour","uri":"http://onto.nerc.ac.uk/CEHMD/topic/20"},{"value":"Biodiversity","uri":"http://onto.nerc.ac.uk/CEHMD/topic/2"}],"licences":[{"value":"This resource is available under the terms of the Open Government Licence","code":"license","uri":"https://eidc.ac.uk/licences/ogl/plain"}],"lineage":"30 Browning Recon Force Elite HP5 camera traps were placed at 10 sites along the River Kelvin in Glasgow with cameras at 0, 250 and 500 m from the river at each site at 0.5-1 m above ground level on trees or posts. Distance of each site from the River Clyde and River Kelvin was calculated using the QNEAT3 plugin in QGIS.
