Both methods were then used to compare calibrations between velocity and acceleration data gathered by low-cost and open-source bottom-mounted floats called 'Mini Buoys'. The dataset contains water velocity data gathered by Acoustic Doppler Velocimeters, and acceleration data gathered from the B4+ Mini Buoy design.\n\nFurthermore, a dataset is provided for Mini Buoy calibration, which uses the drag-tilt principle to infer hydrodynamics from acceleration data. Prior to deployment and after retrieving them, the loggers were inserted into a bucket of water for 1 minute to determine logger position in the tube. Each logger was fitted with different weights of ballast and different tether lengths. The pressure logger was set to sample at 1-minute intervals. Unfortunately, two loggers were lost during the deployment. Data to build a calibration between wave orbital velocity and acceleration was gathered at Caerlaverock, Scotland (54°58′05′′ N, 3°31′58′′ W) and Black Scar, Wales (51°45′54′′ N, 4°26′12′′ W).
