The model was evaluated using the UK Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) monitoring stations. R was used to access the AURN dataset to evaluate the EMEP4UK model output.\n\nTo assess and control the quality of the heavy metal data, we used observations from the Defra UK Heavy Metals Network and historical observation from NETCEN (Baker 2001).\n\nThe data were processed from the full EMEP4UK model output to a subset containing essential variables only.
