This dataset contains 15-minute resolution data from the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) network of rain gauges from across Scotland to support large scale analysis, as part of the Floods and Droughts Research Infrastructure (FDRI). Initially this dataset includes only stations in and around the FDRI Tweed catchment, but this will be extended in the future to include all available gauges.
Historic data has been acquired from SEPA either via its Time series data service (API) or through manual request, under the licence conditions outlined in 'Licensing and constraints'. Stations available via API are updated on an ongoing basis. In the future, quality control will be applied as part of FDRI developments. A link to the definitive source for this data, including for access, ownership and terms of use, is provided in the 'Supplemental information' below.

Provenance & quality
Historic data was collated from the SEPA Time series data service (API). A number of stations were manually requested and data received by email. Data is read from the SEPA API and appended on an hourly basis. No quality control has yet been applied but automated QC will be applied as part of FDRI in the future.
