dataset compiles sapflow measurements collected on trees along a tropical elevational gradient in the Colombian Andes across two common garden plantations with contrasting mean annual temperatures (MAT) (13.7 °C and 22.1 °C). Experimental sites have been named after their MAT. High-resolution sapflow measurements were recorded at one-minute resolution with custom-built dataloggers. Recorded variables included date and time of measurements, measured voltage, temperature difference between thermocouples, and estimated sapflow K metric.\n\nMonitored trees were five years old at the time of measurements. Sampling included 36 trees from nine dominant tree species at the 13.7 °C MAT site, and 32 trees from eight species at the 22.1 °C MAT site. All trees were planted in common soils originating from a high-elevation site and were regularly irrigated; however, only 10 species remained at the 22.1 °C MAT site.\n\nData were obtained through field measurements conducted on a maximum four individuals of each selected tree species. Sapflow was monitored using custom-made sensors based on the Heat Field Deformation (HFD) method, which quantifies sap flux density by measuring heat transport within the branch. Sensors were installed on branches and operated continuously for a period of 15 days at each site.\n\nQuality control procedures included regular inspection of sensors, power supply systems, and data logging equipment, together with periodic data downloads and validation checks to ensure data continuity and reliability.
