dcterms:description "This data set consists of records of condition of Public Rights of Way (PROWs), collected as part of the Environment and Rural Affairs Monitoring & Modelling Programme (ERAMMP) National Field Survey (NFS) between 2021-2025 and the Glastir Monitoring and Evaluation Programme (GMEP) field survey between 2013-2016. Data includes lengths of surveyed PROWs and their condition. ERAMMP NFS is a resurvey of the 300 locations from the initial GMEP monitoring program (300 1km squares) on a rolling annual basis between 2021 and 2025. A subset of those 300 squares were resurveyed for PROWs. Between 2021-2025 ERAMMP National Field Survey resurveyed 181 squares for PROWs. The initial monitoring program, GMEP, was set up by the Welsh Government in 2013 to report national trends and monitor the effects of the Glastir agri-environment scheme on the environment. The field survey element was based on a stratified random sampling design of 300 x 1km square sites across Wales, and was managed by the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology." ;

rdfs:label "During ERAMMP and GMEP National Field Surveys, whilst carrying out bird surveys, trained, professional surveyors walked a route that passed within 50m of all parts of the survey square to which access had been secured. Where this route used or intersected a section of Public Right of Way (PROW), the condition of the section was recorded using standardised protocols. Data were recorded on standard field maps and sent to British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) for digital inputting, during which the digitizer checked the data with the surveyor if necessary. Data on PROW condition were aggregated by survey square. To ensure confidentiality of the data with respect to land owners and managers, the locations of 1km squares and survey sites were converted to the centres of the containing 10km Ordnance Survey grid squares."
