The data in this file relate to fenced experimental plots (part of the MOORCO-BIG experiment) planted with Birch (Betula pubescens) and Pine (Pinus sylvestris) trees at 1m spacing, as well as unplanted heather controls. After leaving in the soil for 6 months the bags were excavated and the total carbon content of hyphae within the bag was measured via elemental analysis. \n\nQC on all variables involved checking max and minimum values to ensure these are within the range of ecologically realistic values, and plotting histograms of data to identify obvious outliers.
