Most of the maps used to generate our dataset reflect the topsoil conditions of approximately the year, 2007 at a spatial resolution of 1 km; however, two maps at 250 m resolution were derived from a global soils database, and one map (1 km) from a European database, that include much older topsoil samples. A second map (500 m resolution) developed for Europe covers soil samples taken in 2009.\n\nThe first step before comparing the eight maps was to harmonise them to the same coordinate reference system (EPSG: 27700 / British National Grid) and grid resolution (1 km). Reprojection to British National Grid was done using tools in ArcMap, with all eight maps aligned to the Ordnance Survey (OS) 1 km grid system. Resampling to 1 km grids was undertaken on the two ISRIC maps and two JRC maps (see “Description”) by taking the means of all grid cells that occurred within each 1 km grid represented by the OS 1 km grid system.\n\nAll layers have been checked to ensure they conform to the same spatial extent, resolution, and coordinate reference system. There is one file for each variable and ensemble member. \n\nTo aid interpretation, two additional spatial datasets are provided: a) digitally-derived catchment areas and b) estimated locations of flow gauging stations both on the 1km x 1km grid. \n\nThe data were produced as part of UK-SCAPE (UK Status, Change And Projections of the Environment; www.ceh.ac.uk/ukscape, Work Package 2: Case Study – Water) programme, a NERC-funded National Capability Science Single Centre award number NE/R016429/1.","documentType":"LINK_DOCUMENT","familyName":["Kay","Rudd","Davies","Lane","Bell"],"fullName":["Kay, A.L.","Rudd, A.C.","Davies, H.N.","Lane, R.A.","Bell, V.A.","Kay, A."],"funder":["Natural Environment Research Council"],"givenName":["A.L.","A.C.","H.N.","R.A.","V.A.","Alison"],"grant":["NE/R016429/1"],"identifier":"9125fd49-e649-4575-bdd1-84d1220d3cb1","incomingCitationCount":0,"keyword":["Great Britain","UK-SCAPE ","Hydrology","Modelling","Climate and climate change","Grid-to-Grid (G2G)","Monthly","River flow","Annual maximum","Annual minimum","hydrology","modelling","climate change","river","flowing water","Water Quantity and Quality","Water","Water quality and resources"],"keywordsOther":["Grid-to-Grid (G2G)","Monthly","River flow","Annual maximum","Annual minimum","hydrology","modelling","climate change","river","flowing water","Water Quantity and Quality","Water","Water quality and resources"],"keywordsPlace":["Great Britain"],"keywordsProject":["UK-SCAPE "],"keywordsTheme":["Hydrology","Modelling","Climate and climate change"],"licence":"Open government licence","lineage":"This dataset is a model output from the Grid-to-Grid hydrological model (Bell et al. 2009; https://doi.org10.1016/j.jhydrol.2009.08.031) driven by meteorological data derived from the United Kingdom Climate Projections 2018 (UKCP18) Regional (12km) projections (Met Office Hadley Centre 2018, catalogue.ceda.ac.uk/uuid/589211abeb844070a95d061c8cc7f604). The main statistical values derived from a linear regression (slope, standard error, P-value) are presented for the entire time series for each species (1976# to the present year), for the last 20 years, and for the last decade. In addition, trends are classified based on the direction and significance of a linear slope together with an estimated percentage change for that time period. These trend data are provided for all UK butterfly species for which we have sufficient data (58 species).\n\nTrends are calculated by performing a linear regression on the annual Collated indices for each species.
