Data include sediment grain size, sediment carbon content and carbon stable isotope analysis, collected at Charlotte Harbor Florida (two sites) in August 2022, and in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam (Ca Mau, Kien Giang and Soc Trang) from 24-08-2022 to 09-09-2022. Data were collected to determine if sediment characteristics and sediment to atmosphere CO2 flux at mangrove coastlines is different depending on the erosional or accretional state of the site.

Provenance & quality
Sediment to atmosphere CO2 flux measured with Licor gas analyser (LI-850) with gas equilibration chamber.
Sediment cores were taken with an auger. Sediment was processed for grain size analysis, carbon stable isotope ratio (d13C), carbon content (total, organic, inorganic).
Replicate measurements were taken at multiple distances away from the vegetation edge.
Calculation of CO2 efflux ((g m-2 hr-1) calculated with polynomial regression, fitted to the initial increase in CO2 concentration)
Sediment grain size analysis, carbon content analysis, carbon stable isotope analysis.
Carbon analysis with Picarro cavity ring-down spectrometer - included blank samples and calibration samples
Linear regression rate (m) calculated with DSAS v5.1

An additional riverine carbon dataset is available. This includes dissolved organic and inorganic carbon, particulate organic carbon, total dissolved nitrogen and the stable isotope values of POC and DIC from 23 sites across two monsoon cycles. Data were collected in the pre-monsoon, post-monsoon, and monsoon periods.
