This dataset includes compiled information on species traits, ecological preferences and distribution metrics for 48 species of ladybird considered resident in the United Kingdom. Ecological traits including information on morphology, habitat and diet preferences, and phenology as well as information on species distributions, trends in species occupancy over time, and species temperature indices have been determined where possible for each of the 48 species.

Provenance & quality
We used a range of sources, including published literature, the recently published Field Guide to the Ladybirds of Great Britain and Ireland, and observations of species provided to the UK Ladybird Survey and iRecord (a website and mobile phone application for collating wildlife observations) to determine a comprehensive set of traits, preferences and other variables for the 48 resident species of ladybird found in the UK.
