Glasgow as a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation (GALLANT) Data Outputs, 2022-2028
This dataset collection includes data outputs from the research programme GALLANT - Glasgow as a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation, developed by The University of Glasgow, in partnership with Glasgow City Council. GALLANT collates and produces data on environment, ecology, place, people and communities to learn about Glasgow's 'living space', how it is changing, and what effect interventions may have on the future environment, economy, health and wellbeing for the city. The nature and volume of such data will change throughout this dynamic strategic programme as the systems wide approach evolves and partnerships increase. Data generated specifically within GALLANT will include:
A) Quantitative geospatial/temporal data - environmental experiments running throughout the programme, including biodiversity records, evaluation of carbonation and pollutant data from contaminated sites, data from a randomised controlled trial supporting active travel, and energy demand (including both heat and electricity).
B) Qualitative/narrative data - social data, including narratives, interviews and surveys from citizen engagements which will be in different formats, including text, image, audio and video, and geotagging.
C) Indicators/model outputs/simulated data - environmental, health and wellbeing, and social cohesion indicators developed and evaluated across the programme at local and city scales.
D) Model outputs from: flood risk and energy opportunities mapping, modelling and LCA, statistical and agent based models.
The GALLANT program was funded by UKRI NERC as part of their Changing the Environment investment, and through this project University researchers are helping the city move towards climate resilience whilst tackling health, social and economic inequalities.
