Seabird Monitoring Programme

The Seabird Monitoring Programme (SMP) is an ongoing annual monitoring programme, established in 1986, of 25 species of seabird that regularly breed in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. The dataset contains whole colony counts and breeding success from sample colonies of seabirds. The SMP is led and co-ordinated by the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) in partnership with others.
