This dataset contains video recordings of captive red deer Cervus elaphus, to study sleep behaviour. Videos were recorded using two speed dome Internet Protocol (IP) cameras.
This data was collected continuously from 18 adult individuals; 13 male, 5 female, in 2023 (13/06/23 - 1/8/23; 04/09/23 - 08/11/23; 13/11/23 - 21/11/23). Deer were housed at the VUZV (Institute of Animal Science) facility, Uhrineves, Prague, Czech Republic.
This dataset was funded by NERC, as part of project "NE/X010368/1: Sleep in the landscape of fear" to pair with biologging collar data.

Clicking on a file will cause it open in the browser rather than downloading it to a local drive. This is caused by an issue to do with the file type and our developers are currently working on a fix for this.

Provenance & quality

Data is provided as raw output in mp4 format using the two speed dome IP cameras (Hikvision DS-2DE7A425IW). Recordings were saved using Hikvision software, without any post processing.
