Air temperature, solar radiation flux, wind speed and lake water temperatures at 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 m depth are measured at an automatic monitoring buoy in Blelham Tarn. All data is given in GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).

The instruments measure data every four minutes, the hourly averages provided in this dataset are calculated by an Oracle database. The average is calculated over the previous hour, e.g. the value for 2 pm is the average of the data between 1 and 2 pm, excluding the data measured at 1 pm but including the data measured at 2 pm.
Data has been checked visually and any obvious errors introduced by hardware malfunctioning have been removed. Any data gaps are due to buoy maintenance work or sensor/logger problems.
