Saiga antelope mortality in Kazakhstan 2015

Datasets within this series relate to a mass mortality event of Saiga antelope in Kazakhstan in 2015. Saiga antelope are susceptible to mass mortality events, the most severe of which tend to be caused by haemorrhagic septicaemia following infection by the bacteria Pasteurella multocida. These die-off events tend to occur in May during calving, when saigas gather in dense groups. The Betpak-dala population is one of three in Kazakhstan, located in the central provinces of the country.

Most of the datasets were compiled during 2015-2016. Climate data were collated for the period from 1979 to 2016.
