Provenance & quality

Peat cores were extracted from 20 locations on desiccating and collapsed palsas at Rensjön palsa mire, Sweden, in July 2022. Horizontal saturated hydraulic conductivity was measured in 82 subsamples in the laboratory at the University of Leeds using a permeameter method. Measurements of dry bulk density and the degree of peat humification (von Post score) were made in immediately adjacent peat core offcuts, using standard techniques.
