EMEP4UK modelled atmospheric composition and deposition

This data collection contains model output from the European Monitoring and Evaluation Programme (EMEP) model applied to the UK (EMEP4UK) driven by Weather and Research Forecast model meteorology (WRF).

The EMEP4UK rv4.36 model is an atmospheric chemistry transport model (ACTM), derived from the EMEP MSC-W model rv4.36 (https://github.com/metno/emep-ctm), which simulates hourly to annual average atmospheric composition and deposition of various pollutants. The 3D meteorology is calculated using the Weather Research and Forecasting Model version 4.2.2 (WRF – https://www.mmm.ucar.edu/models/wrf). The EMEP emission estimates at a resolution of 0.1 degrees x 0.1 degrees provided by the Centre for Emission Inventories and Projections (CEIP, http://www.ceip.at/) are used for the EU and the UK emissions data were derived from reported sectoral totals, spatially distributed at 1 km x 1 km, from the National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory (NAEI).

The data usually consist of atmospheric composition and deposition values of various pollutants; including PM10, PM2.5, secondary organic aerosols (SOA), elemental carbon (EC), secondary inorganic aerosols (SIA), SO2, NH3, NOX, and O3.

The output from the model run for the UK with the latest model version and emission data are available in the following data collection:
