This dataset contains response data from Q sort exercises investigating attitudes towards non-native lizards in the UK conducted in 2017-18.
Data have been collected using standard Q method techniques for combined qualitative and quantitative investigation into subjective viewpoints surrounding a research topic. The data provided are the final Q sort arrangements obtained from participants and provide the basis for further factor analysis.

Provenance & quality
The Q set was developed from statements generated from several sources in direct response to (or pertaining to) the open question of ‘Do you have any thoughts or feelings about the presence of wall lizards in the UK?’
A total of 128 statements were collected, at which point no further original opinion/sentiment was found. A review process to fine tune the final Q set (in terms of reduction in number of statements and maintenance of plain language) was then undertaken. This revision process resulted in the construction of a final Q set consisting of 76 statements that provided a comprehensive and balanced coverage of the study topic.
Twenty-six participants across seven stakeholder groups took part in the Q sorts in the summer of 2017. The Q sort was administered either in person or online.
