This dataset is a model output from the European Monitoring and Evaluation Programme (EMEP) model applied to the UK (EMEP4UK) driven by Weather and Research Forecast model meteorology (WRF). It provides UK estimates annual averaged atmospheric composition at approximately 5Km grid for the year 2015 for a set of vegetation removal experiments.
* UK current vegetation
* UK no vegetation
* UK Urban current vegetation
* UK No urban vegetation
* UK Urban 25% open greenspace conversion
* UK Urban 50% open greenspace conversion
The EMEP model version used here is the rv4.10 and rv4.17, and the WRF model version is the 3.7.1.
This work was supported by the Natural Environment Research Council award number NE/R016429/1 as part of the UK-SCAPE programme delivering National Capability and the Office of National Statistics to support the ONS-Defra natural capital accounting programme in the UK.

Provenance & quality
The EMEP4UK atmospheric chemistry transport model calculated annual average concentrations and annual total for depositions for a model domain covering the UK with a resolution of about 5x6km2. The model is evaluated using the UK Automatic Urban and Rural Network (AURN) monitoring stations (https://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/networks/network-info?view=aurn).
The data are processed from the full EMEP4UK model output to subset to a selection of variables only relevant for the vegetation removal work. The ncks nco command version 4.9.3 (nco - The netCDF Operators that comprises a dozen standalone command-line programs that take netCDF and/or DAP files as input) was used to subset the model outpus. R was used to access the AURN dataset to evaluate the EMEP4UK model output.
